Vietnam is growing to become the next denim manufacturing hub as was clearly evident when Team AO spoke to some of the leading manufacturers at the recently concluded second edition of Denimsandjeans.com Show 2017. Counted among the Top 5 garment suppliers in the world, the productivity levels here are higher than most low-cost countries, giving companies higher chances of profitability. The growing numbers of store closures by even the biggest of brands/retailers in the US and bankruptcy of some iconic names in the last two years, has further impacted market opportunities for Vietnam. After a successful inaugural edition last year, the second edition of the denim extravaganza brought together some of the best global names in denim fabric manufacturing. The 2-day event, despite a low turnout, proved to be a good platform for ‘denim networking’. The general perception among several visitors and exhibitors was the rapid emergence of Vietnam and bright future of denim in the country. The fair review finds an extensive coverage in the magazine.
