Kanval Dhillon, an ‘icon’ of the Indian Apparel Industry, passed away Sunday last (3rd May), leaving all her friends and associates in tears. Apparel Online pays tribute to a lady who touched so many hearts in the industry by publishing some of the several messages received in our office; we regret that due to space constraints we are unable to include all of them. Another interesting story is on ‘Organic Cotton’ which is on the growth path discloses Sumit Gupta, GOTS Representative in India and Bangladesh, to Team AOin a one-on-one interview. Under ‘Business Strategy’ section, we have an international textile sourcing, marketing and garment buying house Texperts India Private Limited which has developed an extensive network of customers and suppliers. Yatish Pandey, Founder Member, Texperts, talks about his approach to business and what truly makes Texperts successful… Team AObrings live the ground realities of Khekra, a small town in Baghpat (UP) which could have been another Panipat in terms of home furnishing export business had the Government provided basic infrastructure to the town, claim many of the exporters AO talked to. Besides bad roads, there is no facility for ‘treatment of water’ and even drainage system is shocking. Besides the above, our regular columns of Mind Tree, H2F, Fashion Trends, Industry Wire, Value Addition, Resource Centre, Export Statistics, etc. make the issue worth reading.
