Hats have been worn for millennia, and every few seasons, a certain type becomes more and more fashionable. However, it was obvious that this trend was vying for everyone’s attention when designers unveiled their Spring 2023 collections.
Extravagant and frequently oversized hats, which some may even call frivolous, were seen at different fashion houses.
In a number of Spring 2023 collections, as well as earlier in the fall, statement hats have taken centre stage. In fact, Schiaparelli’s Autumn couture line was the first hint that oversized hats might return.
With more striking forms like balaclavas, berets, broad fedoras and oversized floppy hats, statement hats have started to return to the fashion set’s top-of-mind list.
The trend has already come down from the runways to the streets and is being embraced by everyone, from luxury fashion labels to digital celebrities around the world.
