This autumn, through special partnerships, premium companies are interacting more and more with the aesthetics of streetwear and workwear. American fashion brand Kith has partnered with Italian designer Giorgio Armani. Givenchy teams up with the US sneaker company Bogs, while Vivienne Westwood unveiled a surreal collection with the British skate brand Palace.
Giorgio Armani has made a significant change with its entry into the streetwear market. Streetwear enthusiast and Kith founder Ronnie Fieg announced the agreement on his Instagram, which is unusual for the usually conventional Italian luxury brand. Previously, in 2021, Emporio Armani, the younger line of Giorgio Armani, celebrated its 40th anniversary with a partnership with C.P. Company, while the flagship line of Giorgio Armani paired with concept shop 10 Corso Como.
The partnership is centred on tailoring, which is thought to be a basic component of a man’s wardrobe. Fieg also shared a sketch of four different suit designs on Instagram with the caption, “Kith & Giorgio Armani present: The Archetype.” The collaboration’s specifics will shortly be made public.
In the meantime, Vivienne Westwood and Palace’s collaboration looks to be a revolutionary coming together, characterised by a common spirit of British disobedience. One side features a fashion house renowned for its activism and rebellious flair, while the other is a streetwear brand with a strong underground and skate culture influence. The resultant collection combines humour with each brands’ own codes.
With this collaborative collection, Palace is presenting womenswear items for the first time, such as corsets, miniskirts, and skirts. T-shirts, denim sets, hooded jackets, track pants and hoodies are also included in the collection. It combines redesigned classic pieces, technological textiles, prints from Westwood’s archives, and repeating logos.
Oversized teddy bear-shaped bags, horned beanies, trucker hats, and Scottish berets are among the accessories that have a humorous vibe. Other accessories include skateboards, printed long socks, necklaces, and studded little leather products.
Givenchy has teamed up with Portland, Oregon-based Bogs, an American footwear company well-known for its work boots and outdoor gear, for their Pre-Fall 2024 collection. The Parisian luxury brand, which is a member of the LVMH group, introduced two men’s 100% waterproof shoe models in August, but they would rather call it a partnership than a collaboration.
