Puma sues Forever 21 over Rihanna’s Fenty designs

Forever 21 is notorious for releasing designer knockoff and it comes as little surprise to announce that Puma is next in line to ambush the American retailer for stealing three pieces from their Rihanna for Fenty x Puma collection. The ace sportswear retailer has called the collaboration with musical prodigy, Rihanna an extremely profitable and will leave no stone unturned to protect the same.

According to the lawsuit, Puma is accusing Forever 21 of blatantly plagiarising three of its most popular pieces — the Fenty x Puma Creepers, Bow Slides and Fur Slides. The Fashion Law reports Puma’s claims stating, “In an attempt to ride the coattails of Puma’s substantial investment in and success with the Fenty Shoes, [Forever 21] is using the Fenty Trade Dress to offer for sale, distribute, market, and/or sell competing shoes that are confusingly similar to the Fenty Shoes.”

The sportswear giant also said that, “Seeking to trade on the substantial goodwill of Puma, Rihanna, and the Fenty Shoes, [Forever 21] has blatantly copied each of these shoes. Indeed, although the Bow Slide was only released this month, [Forever 21] is already offering copies of it on its website.”

Correspondingly, Puma has asked Forever 21 to eliminate the styles from stores and give them all profits made from the shoes. While Puma filed a similar lawsuit against Topshop for knocking off footwear that was deemed a little too Fenty-inspired; Forever 21 is no stranger to this blame game. The American retail giant has previously been on the receiving side of similar objections from the likes of Betsey Johnson and H&M, among plenty others.

Techtextil 2017: Uster to display filament yarn tester

USTER® TESTER 6-C800Uster Group, the Switzerland-based leading high-technology instrument manufacturer of products for quality measurement and certification for the textile industry, will display USTER® TESTER 6-C800 at the upcoming May edition of Techtextil trade show in Frankfurt, Germany.

USTER® TESTER 6-C800 provides fast, accurate filament yarn testing against the most stringent specifications and standards such as yarn evenness, thus protecting filament producers against customer complaints and claims. The capacitive sensor provides more accurate and reliable test results than ever before.

Typically, filament yarns show a CVm value around 1, so that even small deviations in evenness are likely to cause noticeable defects in the fabric. For this vital parameter, spinners have for decades been depending on the USTER CVm value, now recognized as the defining global standard for evenness.

Additionally, the USTER® TESTER 6-C800 operate at the test speed of 800 m/min. Running on the automatic setting, the high sample throughput rate gives even better detection of quality exceptions, resulting in lower labor costs and improved control of quality for the business.

Furthermore, it offers three new unique features to help yarn producers increase efficiency and improve quality. Measurement of intermingling – saves time and prevents variations in subsequent fabric appearance; an automatic twist scan facility – assists filament quality monitoring by making twister settings easier; and Knowledge Based System (KBS) – quickly traces the cause of a quality problem on the spinning machine, with no need for extra settings or input from the machine supplier, via a single click on the spectrogram display.
