In the first half of the year, the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) reported a consolidated profit of around US $ 21.3 million, a 197% increase over the same period in 2024. Revenue increased by 8% to US $ 345.8 million, which was 49% of its goal for the entire year.
Vinatex chairman Le Tien Truong told reporters on Friday that the increase was a result of “stronger global demand, improved pricing, and early orders.”
According to him, there were fewer small, disjointed batches and orders restarted earlier than usual, about two to three months ahead of plan. Additionally, inventory levels decreased, which made it possible for the group to function more effectively.
This gain followed the US Trade Representative’s announcement on 9th April that countervailing taxes on Vietnamese textile and apparel exports would be delayed. Exporters were worried about possible interruptions to the nation’s biggest foreign market in the original proposal.
Vietnamese exporters and international purchasers are negotiating to avoid missing important production cycles, such as orders for the winter and holiday season, even though US officials have not yet made a final judgement on the planned tariffs.
“It might be too late to deliver for the peak season if we wait for the final tariff outcome,” Truong stated, emphasising the importance of preserving confidence in the global supply chain.
He stated that order growth could continue to be robust into the second half of the year, with expected export growth of 8–10%, and that he expects tariff levels, if imposed, to be manageable based on recent technical conversations.
Vinatex wants to make between US $ 36.4–US $ 38.3 million in consolidated profit for the entire year.
In May, Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports reached US $ 3.84 billion, the biggest monthly total ever recorded and up 6% year over year. This amount even surpassed post-pandemic highs in 2022. Total sector exports increased by 10% from the previous year to US $ 17.8 billion in the first five months of 2025.
Vietnam is one of the leading exporters of clothing in the world, with over 13,000 textile and apparel businesses.
