
Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) and Qatar Minister of Transport, Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti held a meeting to discuss the strengthening of India-Qatar maritime co-operation, which included the interaction of Indian and Qatari ports.
“Glad to meet Qatar Minister of Transport HE Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti in New Delhi. Had a wonderful discussion on strengthening India-Qatar maritime co-operation including the interaction between Indian and Qatari ports,” the Union Minister stated on Twitter.
The Qatari Minister is on an official visit to India from 5th-8th February with 2023 marking 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Qatar.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, discussions were held by the ministers on different policies and programmes initiating progress in the transportation facilities between the two nations.
The Union Minister, in the press release, said, “Fruitful discussions were held on commitment to strengthen the bilateral maritime co-operation, including interaction between Indian Ports and Qatari Ports to share best practices in areas of port operations, logistics, supply chain management and digitalisation.”
Also attending the meeting were Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways Shantanu Thakur, Sudhansh Pant, Secretary (PSW), Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary (PSW) and senior officers of the Ministry.
