
Highlighting the so-called lack of proactive measures by the authorities concerned and failure to widen the export basket with both traditional and non-traditional products and services, trade officials in Bangladesh have maintained the country’s products were enjoying duty-free market access in 38 countries only thereby leaving vast swathes of potential untapped.
Reports maintained this while adding according to Commerce Ministry officials, of the countries, 28 member-states of the European Union (EU) are giving duty-free market facilities for Bangladeshi products even as apart from them Canada, India, Japan, Chili, Norway, New Zealand, Australia and China were providing such marketing facilities, who went to, reportedly, further add that realising the urgency, the Government is trying to secure duty-free market access to a number of countries after LDC graduation.
It may be mentioned here Bangladesh is all set to join the developing nations soon, which would come with its own share of challenges as far export is concerned.
