The Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA) has announced plans to double garment exports from Tirupur within the next three years. The commitment was outlined by K.M. Subramanian, who was recently re-elected as president of the Association for the 2025–2028 term.
Subramanian said that in the past three years the Association, which represents 1,342 members, had worked to promote Tirupur’s knitwear cluster on the global stage as a sustainable production centre. He added that the body had also encouraged greater production of synthetic fabrics and garments to broaden the region’s output.
Addressing current challenges, Subramanian noted that several exporters with high exposure to the United States market had been adversely affected by the recent tariffs imposed by Washington. He said the Association was actively working on measures to support these exporters in reviving their businesses.
The newly elected office-bearers of the Association for 2025–2028 include Rajkumar Ramasamy and V. Elangovan as vice-presidents, N. Thirukumaran as secretary, R. Gopalakrishnan as treasurer, and Kumar Duraisamy and Anand Muthusamy as joint secretaries.
The Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA) is the representative body of knitwear and garment exporters in Tiruppur. With more than 1,300 members, it works to promote the interests of the industry, facilitate exports, and support initiatives in areas such as sustainability, skill development and infrastructure.
