Readymade garment manufacturers in Bangladesh have expressed concerns following a recent move by the BERC or Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission as a part of which it is organising a day-long public hearing on the proposed 65.95 per cent bulk electricity price hike.
According to reports, garment makers are concerned such a move at this juncture will only add pressure on the garment manufacturers.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI), in a statement, has, reportedly, underlined that price hike in the current context would be a suicidal move while going on to add bulk electricity price hike will have a multifaceted negative effect on manufacturing, agriculture and service sectors.
