Almost a year ago, Piyush Goyal took charge as Textile Minister and amongst few of his successful steps were conclusion of trade agreements with UAE and Australia – important markets for Indian apparel exporters.
He also accelerated the work of ambitious schemes for textile industry PLI and MITRA.
The Minister, CA by professional qualification, also created a better synergy between industry and the ministry as many meetings have taken place on various issues.
It is worth mentioning here that Indian textile industry has always been looking for such a Textile Minister who not only has a deep understanding of business, but also holds portfolio of Commerce and Industry Ministry so that the Ministry of Textiles has better coordination with the same.
