AHM Mustafa Kamal, Planning Minister of Bangladesh has said that establishment of a specialised bank for the RMG of the country would ensure low-cost financing and attract more investment.
Agreeing with Kamal, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Atiqul Islam averred that a specialised bank will help the sector attain higher compliance levels, productivity and stay competitive in the global market through low cost financing compared to other banks.
Islam further mentioned that fund shortage is not allowing small and medium apparel manufacturers to relocate their units from shared structures to the purpose-made buildings, while buyers are least interested in placing orders with the factories housed in shared buildings; therefore setting up of such a bank has become extremely important over the period of time for the RMG sector.
