Mexico decreased its imports of Argentine wool in the second half of 2023, although it remained in the top 3 main destinations in Latin America, as confirmed by the most recent balance of the Wool Federation of the South American country.
Specifically, the document indicates that between July and December 2023, 252.4 tonnes of wool of Argentine origin entered Mexico, which represents a contraction of 22 per cent compared to the same quarter of 2022, a period in which the country imported 323. 6 tonnes.
This figure places the Mexican market as the seventh global destination for Argentine wool and the third in Latin America, behind Peru and Bolivia, the latter displacing Mexico with respect to the balance of the second half of 2022.
It should be noted that despite the double-digit contraction in terms of total imports in tons, Mexico discreetly increased the weight of its participation in Argentine wool shipments to the foreign market, going from 4 per cent to 4.48 per cent.
