The Meghalaya Government believes that the Integrated Textile Tourism Complex in Nongpoh will play a pivotal role in transforming Meghalaya into a major hub for textile production, contribute to economic growth and create employment opportunities once it is up and running.
The construction of Textile Tourism Complex is underway. This initiative has been funded by the Ministry of Textiles (MoT), under the North Eastern Region Textile Promotion Scheme (NERTPS) and out of the total cost of Rs 798.92 lakh, Rs 399.46 lakh has already been released.
Meghalaya’s Minister in charge of Textiles Department Paul Lyngdoh, C Kharkongor, Secretary, Textiles Department, and other officials inspected the project.
The minister expressed satisfaction with the work progress and said his intention was to pursue the early release of the second instalment of funds from the MoT. This financial support is vital for the timely completion of the complex.
