Shaleen Toshniwal has been appointed as the new chairman of the Manmade and Technical Textiles Export Promotion Council (MATEXIL), whose tenure began 30th March 2025. He takes over for the departing Chairman, Bhadresh Dodhia.
MATEXIL, which is a division of the Indian government’s Ministry of Textiles, is committed to advancing the export of technical and man-made fibre textiles, including yarns, fabrics, fibres, makeup, and home textiles.
Shaleen Toshniwal brings with him more than 23 years of vast textile and apparel industry experience. He is currently the Joint Managing Director of Banswara Syntex Ltd., where he is in charge of general management, human resources, and the company’s yarn, fabric, and clothing exports. His extensive area of competence includes the creation of knitted and woven fabrics, dyed synthetic spinning, and clothing manufacturing. Toshniwal introduced One Mlle, a digital-first, direct-to-consumer company that sells ready-to-wear clothing, in 2023.
As an active member of MATEXIL’s Committee of Administration since 2015, Toshniwal has made substantial contributions through his affiliation with multiple Council Sub-Committees. In addition, he has been MATEXIL’s Vice Chairman for the last two years, where he has been instrumental in determining the Council’s strategic orientation.
Speaking on the change in leadership, Bhadresh Dodhia said that Shaleen Toshniwal’s knowledge, foresight, and leadership will surely be crucial in propelling the expansion of exports throughout the whole value chain of manmade fibre textiles and technical textiles.
