Asia remains the biggest market for Italian textile machinery exports. Italy’s exports to Asia reached US $ 771 million in 2024 and US $ 368 million in the first half of 2025, a modest growth of 1%. But despite being one of the prime export destinations of Italy besides China, Bangladesh witnessed a decline in shipments by 6% in the same period.
This dip has, however, not affected the strong presence of Italian manufacturers in the Bangladeshi market driven by modernisation and sustainability efforts in the country’s textile industry.
Approximately half of all textile machinery exports worldwide, totalling US $ 10.22 billion in 2024, are absorbed by Asia. With a combined total of US $ 4.99 billion in machinery acquisitions, China and India continue to be the biggest importers.
Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT) President Marco Salvade, highlighting the strategic importance of the Singapore event, said, “ITMA ASIA + CITME Singapore is a further occasion for Italian textile machinery manufacturers to display their updated technological supply. The choice of Singapore allows Italian exhibitors to engage with many Southeast Asian markets, which are becoming increasingly important manufacturing hubs.”
Marco added that the significant involvement of Italian businesses in Singapore confirms the vitality of Italy’s textile machines industry despite market and geopolitical uncertainties. Exhibitors will showcase a variety of cutting-edge solutions such as digitalisation tools, automation systems and sustainable technology, with the goal of maximising water and energy use while guaranteeing superior outcomes.
