
In April-December 2025, Indian textile exports saw a decline of -2.19% compared to the previous year, while apparel exports saw a 2.36% increase. Cumulative exports of apparel and textiles from April to December 2025 decreased by -0.26% over the same period in 2024, according to an analysis by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI).
For April-December 2025, textile exports reached US $ 14,947.32 million as compared to US $ 15,282.44 million in April-December 2024 while apparel exports reached US $ 11,583.93 million in April-December 2025 as compared to US $ 11,316.70 million in April-December 2024. Cumulative textile and apparel exports in April-December 2025 reached US $ 26,531.25 million as compared to US $ 26,599.14 million in April-December 2024.
In December 2025, Indian textile exports saw a -1.62% decline in growth compared to the previous year, while apparel exports saw a 2.89% increase. Cumulative textile and apparel exports in December 2025 increased by -0.40% compared to December 2024.
Textile exports in December 2025 reached US $ 1,769.56 million from an amount of US $ 1,798.68 million in December 2024, while apparel exports reached US $ 1,504.10 million in December 2025, compared to US $ 1,461.90 million in December 2024. Cumulative textile and apparel exports reached US $ 3,273.66 million in December 2025 as compared to US $ 3,260.58 million in December 2024.
CITI executive director Chandrima Chatterjee said the weakness in apparel exports was linked to persistent uncertainty in both the US and Bangladesh markets. She noted that India had traditionally exported significant volumes of cotton yarn and fabric to Bangladesh, while a large share of made-up products such as towels and curtains were shipped to the US.
