
Addressing the newly-elected leaders of the Board of Directors of the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI), President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Abdul Matlub Ahmed reportedly urged them to increase trade with Malaysia by threefold over the next two years.

The FBCCI President reportedly said this at a meeting with BMCCI President Md Alamgir Jalil who called on him at his office recently.
The BMCCI President, while informing the FBCCI chief about various steps undertaken by BMCCI to enhance business and investment in Bangladesh to narrow down the existing trade imbalance between Bangladesh and Malaysia, reportedly stated that the total volume of the mutual trade between the two countries has reached US $1,314.60 million with Bangladesh’s exports, accounting for US$ 114.60 million as against Malaysia’s US$ 1.2 billion export to Bangladesh for the fiscal 2014-2015.

It may be mentioned here that earlier at a meeting between a 23-member Turkish business team and an FBCCI delegation in Dhaka, Abdul Matlub Ahmad had reportedly called upon Turkish business community to invest in the readymade garment (RMG) sector of Bangladesh.
“Turkey is Bangladesh’s genuine friend and development partner,” Ahmad reportedly said, adding, “The visit of the business team will further facilitate the existing trade and business relation between the two friendly countries.”
