
Bangladeshi denim items have bright futures for business, which has international apparel brands and retailers enthused about the product. These enterprises are responding to the increased demand from local manufacturers in Bangladesh by either growing their current operations or opening new offices.
Following the devastating effects of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war, the global denim and apparel supply chain has begun to recover. Because local dyers and washers are importing a substantial amount of chemicals from them, traders of chemical items are also flourishing here.
These views were expressed at the two-day Bangladesh Denim Expo that began at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka on Monday.
Bangladesh has emerged as the world’s leading supplier of denim clothing to the US and the EU, and local investors are still flooding the sector with cash to profit from further expansion into international markets. Since 2017, Bangladesh has been the continent’s largest exporter of denim to the EU, with one in three individuals wearing the garments.
Given that worldwide demand is growing, businesses are looking to enhance their capacity in order to grab a bigger slice of the US $ 64.5 billion global denim market. Local exporters currently supply denim products worth nearly US $ 5 billion worldwide.
Several estimations indicate that the global denim market would increase at a rate of 4.8 percent per year to reach US $ 76.1 billion by 2026.
Consequently, the denim segment of the primary textile sector, which now has 42 sophisticated mills capable of supplying over 900 million metres of denim fabrics annually, has seen approximately Taka 25,000 crore invested in it by local entrepreneurs.
Bangladesh’s 40 mills can currently produce 80 million yards of denim fabrics each month, and the industry has received Taka 16,000 crore in investment to date.
