
The president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Mahbubul Alam, has extended an invitation to Sri Lankan entrepreneurs and investors, urging them to consider investments in Bangladesh’s Special Economic Zones (SEZ).
Mahbubul made this proposition during a courtesy meeting with the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Bangladesh, Dharmapala Weerakkody, held at FBCCI’s Gulshan office recently.
Highlighting the favourable conditions for investors, Mahbubul mentioned that the government is establishing 100 special economic zones in Bangladesh, equipped with various facilities, including oil, gas, and electricity.
Additionally, the country offers a comprehensive package of incentives such as one-stop service, e-platforms, and other attractive benefits to facilitate business and investment.
Mahbubul emphasised that sector like garments along with, pharmaceuticals, eco-tourism, and hospitality present significant investment opportunities in Bangladesh even as he assured Sri Lankan businessmen of full support from FBCCI, whether they choose to set up industries independently or engage in joint ventures.
High Commissioner Dharmapala Weerakkody expressed the interest of many Sri Lankan entrepreneurs in doing business in Bangladesh, citing the growing number of tourists from Bangladesh visiting Sri Lanka annually.
