Back in December 2013, European Apparel and Textile Confederation (EURATEX) has unveiled its ‘Action Plan’ for fashion and high-end industries to set out concrete actions to strengthen the competiveness of the European fashion and high-end industries. The Action Plan also established a multi-stakeholder Forum aimed at monitoring the implementation of Plan’s actions and outlining the future developments.
The first edition of the recently held multi-stakeholder forum aimed at monitoring the implementation of the Action Plan was headed by the Commissioner Elżbieta Bieńkowska. Commissioner Bieńkowska stated that fashion and high-end industries are very important for the cultural and creative industries. EURATEX President Serge Piolat emphasized that the whole textile and clothing industry should be given importance for future joint accounts. The internationalization of SMEs and providing them innovation funding was one of the key steps that the President focused on. The European Commission is also planning a strategy to boost the potential of cultural and creative industries in growth and jobs creation which will be presented in 2016.
EURATEX represents the interests of the industry at the level of the EU institutions and aims to create a favorable environment within the European Union for manufacturing of textile and clothing products.
