QatarEnergy has officially entered into a 15-year agreement with US-based Excelerate Energy to provide Bangladesh with natural gas, as announced by the state-owned QatarEnergy recently.
Commencing in January 2026, Doha will deliver one million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually to floating storage units in Bangladesh for the duration of the agreement.
This deal follows a series of significant Qatari gas supply agreements announced last year, including partnerships with China’s Sinopec, France’s Total, Britain’s Shell, and Italy’s Eni.
Notably, these agreements, spanning 27 years, stand as the longest in the history of the industry.
Expressing satisfaction with the latest agreement, Qatar’s Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi stated, “We are pleased to sign this agreement with Excelerate for the supply of up to one million tons per annum of LNG to Bangladesh.”
Al-Kaabi, who also serves as the CEO of QatarEnergy, highlighted the agreement’s role in strengthening the relationship with Excelerate and supporting Bangladesh’s energy needs, contributing to its economic development.
