China’s apparel and accessory exports have reached US $ 62.21 billion in January to May 2022, noting 10.20 per cent Y-o-Y growth.
Particularly in May ’22, the exports valued US $ 15.20 billion that’s around 34.15 per cent increase from previous month, and 38 per cent from the same month of last year.
China has been able to maintain its growth rate even though the country’s industry-oriented provinces remained closed due to lockdown for months in 2022, such as Shanghai that witnessed 78-day long lockdown.
Since the beginning of May, a total of 26 cities were under lockdown in the country and it was speculated the same may disrupt supply chain and factories’ operations, but data denies these speculations.
As far as textile exports are concerned, China clocked US $ 62.85 billion export revenues, growing 12.10 per cent on Y-o-Y basis during Jan.-May ’22 period.
