
A 15-member delegation led by Huang Liansheng, Managing Director of China Textile Industrial Corporation for Foreign Economic and Technical Cooperation (CTEXIC) meets BGMEA President S M Mannan (Kochi), Senior Vice President Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Vice President Abdullah Hil Rakib and Vice President Rakibul Alam Chowdhury on Sunday.
The meeting discussed potential joint ventures to promote long-term growth in the apparel and textile sectors, with a focus on mutual trade benefits, as well as exploring investment opportunities in the textile and apparel industries between Bangladesh and China, strategic partnerships, and business expansions.
BGMEA President SM Mannan (Kochi) discussed many elements of the Bangladesh garment industry, including its contribution to the socioeconomic sector, with the delegation. He stated that Bangladesh is currently a desirable destination for business and investment due to its strategic geographical location, political stability, and expanding infrastructure.
In the meeting, BGMEA leaders highlighted the immense potential of Chinese investment in high-end textile and backward linkage industries in Bangladesh, which would benefit both countries. This Chinese investment will be very helpful, especially in the link industry of Bangladesh’s manufactured garment sector. They also sought China’s assistance in capacity building through exchange of knowledge and technical expertise.
Huang Liansheng, Managing Director of CTEXIC, stated the delegation’s significant interest in Bangladesh’s business and investment climate, as well as policy review, and explained the delegation’s aim for visiting Bangladesh.
He stated, “We are pleased to notice considerable improvements in the working environment during our visits to several clothing manufacturers. The upbeat and energetic attitude of the employees here is great. Many Chinese enterprises are looking for commercial and investment opportunities in Bangladesh.”
He further stated, “We would like to share our great experience with other Chinese companies who have not yet visited Bangladesh. The country’s investment potential will attract Chinese enterprises to seek commercial opportunities there.”
