
According to General Administration of Customs China (GACC), the country has experienced a marginal de-growth of 0.80 per cent on yearly basis in its apparel import value during January to July ’22.
China imported apparels worth US $ 5.89 billion in the said period as against US $ 5.93 billion in the same period of 2021.
The decline was witnessed due to lockdowns in China because of which businesses and markets remained shut, particularly in Q1 ’22.
In July ’22, the import valued US $ 940.74 million.
On the other hand, textile imports of the country sunk significantly in January to July 2022 period by 34.20 per cent to US $ 7.56 billion.
Imports of textile yarns fell by 54.40 per cent to US $ 3.62 billion, whereas cotton yarn (US $ 2.58 billion) and yarns made up of synthetic fibres (US $ 711 million) tumbled by 63 per cent and 38 per cent, respectively.
