The President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan, has formally requested the Singapore port authorities to expedite and streamline the transshipment process for Bangladeshi RMG goods.
The BGMEA chair made this appeal during a meeting with Alfred Sim, Vice President, and Lim Wei Chiang, Assistant Vice President of Group Business Development at PSA International, a global leader in port operations and logistics.
The BGMEA delegation, including its president, visited the Singapore port to observe its operational procedures and explore the various services offered by PSA International.
In discussions, Faruque Hassan emphasised the importance of efficient and prompt services for Bangladeshi export items passing through Singapore even as he urged PSA International to extend its services in Bangladesh and provide competitive port services in the shortest timeframe possible.
Alfred Sim and Lim Wei Chiang expressed their willingness to visit Bangladesh and assured their cooperation through PSA International in facilitating a smooth transshipment process for Bangladeshi export goods.
The meeting also saw the participation of Luthfun Nahar Shipu, a commercial counsellor at the Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore, along with Asif Ashraf, Director of BGMEA, Shams Mahmud, Chair of BGMEA Standing Committee on Foreign Mission Cell, Azfar Hassan, Director of Giant Group, and Sanjay Kumar Naha, Director of Rose Intimates.
