Notwithstanding the difficulties brought on by the four-day suspension of factory and port services in ready-made garment exports, buyers have consented to take the products at the listed rates, according to the BGMEA.
The president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), SM Mannan Kochi, spoke with buyer representatives at the association’s office in Uttara, Dhaka, about these changes as well as the difficulties facing the garment industry.
Violent protests over job quota reforms had occurred throughout the nation, resulting in a complete shutdown and the installation of a curfew, which caused companies and industries to temporarily close.
After operations resumed, the BGMEA notified buyers of the general situation, according to Kochi.
After the meeting, Kochi told reporters, “We have held a meeting with the Buyers Forum, which represents the buyers. They were unable to communicate since the internet was shut down from the 18th of July.”
“They were concerned, but now that the internet is back, they can get in touch.”
“They have assured us, in response to our demands, that they will not cancel any orders due to the shutdown and will not request any discounts,” he added.
After learning about the increased expense of air freight, buyers accepted both options, according to the president of BGMEA.
They talked about the factory opening again and the transit services starting up again. Additionally, buyers requested that internet services be provided without interruption.
