The leader of Sammilita Parishad and President-elect of Bangladesh’s apex garment makers’ body, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan, is, reportedly, for establishing a separate ministry on the apparel sector while also providing 10 per cent cash incentive for man made fibre-based products to help revive the export earnings.
Media reports maintained this citing the President-elect of BGMEA in this direction.
We will talk to our former presidents and convey this proposal to the Prime Minister, reportedly, stated Faruque interacting with the media while adding that dependency on a single sector is not good for the economy, but, until a new sector comes up, the apparel industry should be given more attention by the Government.
This is why we propose to form a separate ministry led by an experienced cabinet member…, reportedly, explained Faruque.
Further, promising to complete all ongoing initiatives taken up by the current committee, the BGMEA President-elect, reportedly, underlined that he wants to serve all members irrespective of who have voted for him or otherwise in order to make the BGMEA a service-oriented organisation for everyone.
All directors from my panel want to work together for the development of the garment sector, Faruque, reportedly claimed.
