Commendable safety standards on a global scale, coupled with significant advancements in ethical and sustainable business practices, as well as improved capabilities to cater to a wide array of product demands, have increased the preference of international buyers for ‘Made in Bangladesh’ apparel.
This sentiment was expressed by Faruque Hassan, the president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) recently.
The BGMEA President maintained this while highlighting the substantial endeavours and investments made by Bangladeshi apparel makers in upholding workplace safety, elevating production capacities with a specific focus on crafting more intricate and high-value items, and enhancing their commitment to environmental sustainability.
These insights were shared by the head of BGMEA during the inaugural event of the liaison office of Sports Group Denmark in Dhaka, as outlined in an official press release. The event was attended by Bjarne Jeppesen, CEO; Heidi Langergaard Kroer, supply chain manager; and Jan Rossel, sourcing and country manager of Sports Group Denmark.
Speaking on the occasion, the BGMEA chair emphasised the gratifying outcomes of the industry’s efforts, citing the growing popularity of the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ label among brands and retailers even as he pointed to a recently published report wherein US fashion companies ranked Bangladesh as the most competitively priced country among global apparel manufacturers.
