
The apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh has called for withdrawal of the decision of gas rationing in the industrial units for 4 hours a day for 15 days.
Media reports claimed this adding First Vice-President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Syed Nazrul Islam in a statement issued, reportedly, stated the export-oriented garment industry will incur huge loss due to the decision of gas supply suspension even as he added the country’s apparel industry has huge export orders that include the orders suspended or cancelled during the coronavirus pandemic and the new ones.
The BGMEA First Vice-President further, reportedly, added these orders have to be shipped within a stipulated timeframe, as a result of which, all factories are busy in production so that they can complete the work before Eid holidays start, and gas supply suspension for 4 hours a day at this juncture will disrupt production in various industrial sectors and export will be hampered.
