The President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Faruque Hassan, emphasised on the crucial need for the country’s readymade garment industry to prioritise value addition for sustained and enhanced global competitiveness.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 13th edition of Garment Accessories and Packaging Exposition 2024 in Dhaka, Hassan highlighted the significance of accessories and packaging in elevating the overall appeal and perceived value of garments within the industry.
The BGMEA chair underscored the substantial role played by the accessories and packaging sector in the garment industry, emphasising its potential for value addition even as he urged the industry stakeholders to invest in research and development, encouraging the production of high-quality, innovative, and sustainable materials.
During the opening ceremony, AHM Ahsan, Vice-Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau, and Mohammad Hatem, Executive President of BKMEA, also addressed the audience.
