
The Benapole Custom House received a record Taka 6,164.59 crore in income in the previous fiscal year (FY ’24), which was Taka 216.59 crore more than the target of Taka 5,948 crore.
The income collection from the Benapole Custom House is also 6.53 per cent greater, or Taka 378.36 crore, than the previous fiscal year, which ran from July 2022 to June 2023.
The Benapole Custom House’s income collection in FY ’23 was Taka 5,786.23 crore.
Officials at the Benapole Custom House stated that revenue collection increased significantly as a result of the imposition of fines for incorrect declaration, the determination of accurate duty, and heightened vigilance to prevent irregularities.
Talking to local media, Benapole Custom House Commissioner Md Abdul Hakim said, “We’ve strengthened our vigilance for preventing irregularities during imports. We’ve also emphasised realizing duty through determining the real HS code after seeing the sample of products.”
Furthermore, he stated that the overall income collection has grown due to the realisation of outstanding duty payments and the resolution of cases.
According to customs officials, earnings were collected last fiscal year from tariffs on fabrics, perishable commodities, truck chassis, motor parts, and industrial raw materials.
The highest income was generated by Power Grid Company BD, SMCL Niloy, and SM Corporation.
