
The Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Muna Tasneem, called upon the President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan at his office in Dhaka recently.
According to media reports, during the visit, both sides discussed and deliberated on issues related to trade including export opportunities for Bangladesh in the UK market, generating ways to attract more foreign direct investment (FDI) from there, issues pertaining to graduation of Bangladesh from LDC and possible changes in the tariff regime and how the country (Bangladesh) could retain its market access in the post-LDC status in the UK, etc.
During the meeting in which the BGMEA Vice-President Miran Ali was also present, Faruque Hassan, reportedly, also sought support of the Bangladesh High Commission in London related to non-payment of dues by some British brands to their Bangladeshi suppliers during the coronavirus-induced crisis.
