Bangladesh has asked the businesses and industries to adopt staggered weekends, which will be designated for their respective zones, so as to continue running production while also saving electricity to help reduce power cuts.
As per reports, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has passed a new directive in this regard at a recent meeting with the top business association leaders of the country even if businesses and industries in Bangladesh have been running seven days a week ignoring a previous Government-formulated staggered weekend schedule dividing the country into zones.
The Minister has convened the meeting to cite reasons for a recent fuel price hike and discuss how businesses could cope with it, which witnessed participation of leaders from the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
