Banks in Bangladesh have failed to attain the cottage, micro, small and medium (CMSMEs) stimulus loans disbursement target.
This was underlined by a report of the country’s central bank, Bangladesh Bank (BB), according to which, for FY ’22, banks in Bangladesh have disbursed Taka 147.46 billion against the target of Taka 193.40 billion, which is 73.77 per cent of the target even if in the previous fiscal year (FY ’21), banks had disbursed 77 per cent of the target of CMSMEs loans, which effectively means banks’ CMSMEs loans disbursement reduced by 4.15 per cent in FY ’22.
Reports further added, banks distributed these loans amongst 82,190 entrepreneurs in FY ’22, of which 73,642 were male entrepreneurs while 14,617 were female.
