
Bangladesh witnessed a negative growth of 6.21 per cent to US $ 16.02 billion in the first half of current fiscal year (FY) in its apparel export markets, which was US $ 17.08 billion in the same period in the previous FY.
This was highlighted in the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data of July-December released recently.
As per the data, knitwear export declined 5.16 per cent to US $ 8.2 billion, which was US $ 8.65 billion in same period in 2018 while the export earnings from woven garments came down 7.28 per cent to US $ 7.82 billion, which was US $ 8.43 billion in the previous year.
Bangladesh’s leather and leather products witnessed negative 10.61 per cent growth while home textile recorded a negative growth of 9.5 per cent to US $ 3.7 billion, which was US $ 4.8 billion in 2018.
