Bangladesh’s National Board of Revenue (NBR) has rolled out a new digital system to electronically track cargo trucks entering the country from India, marking a significant step towards modernising customs operations and strengthening border controls.
The NBR has introduced a “Truck Movement” sub-module under the ASYCUDA World platform to digitally capture and monitor the entry of vehicles carrying imported goods as well as the exit of empty trucks, according to a press release issued on Thursday. Until now, these processes were handled manually.
The new module was piloted at Benapole Customs House, the country’s largest land port, on 15th December 2025. Based on the outcomes of the pilot phase, the NBR plans to extend the system to all land ports across the country in the coming months.
With the introduction of the digital sub-module, customs officials will be able to record detailed information on the arrival and departure of each Indian vehicle, track the duration of its stay and monitor movements in real time. Officials said the system is expected to significantly improve data accuracy and management, reduce the risk of revenue leakage, and enhance transparency and accountability in customs procedures.
The real-time tracking capability is also expected to strengthen border security by providing timely updates on truck movements. The NBR said a nationwide rollout of the Truck Movement sub-module would further streamline customs administration and support smoother cross-border trade through greater automation and oversight.
