
A Hong Kong-based textile company has been fined for environmental violation in Vietnam. Pacific Crystal Textiles Limited located at Lai Vu Industrial Park in Kim Thanh District has been asked to pay VND 672 million (US $ 29,372) as fine by Mayor Nguyen Duong Thai over discharging wastewater that exceeded permitted levels of toxic waste in Vietnam.
Pacific Crystal, which began its commercial operations at its US $ 425 million-plant in Hai Duong in December 2015, has also been asked to ensure any wastewater discharged in the future meets local Government standards.

According to the General Statistics Office (GSO), violations of the Vietnam’s environmental regulations in 2016 were recorded at some 80 percent of industrial parks.
