In a sad incident, 2 labourers have died at a top export house due to suffocation during the cleaning of a water sump at a unit of the export house.
A complaint was filed by the son of one of the deceased, leading to the arrest of five individuals who were granted bail.
The incident took place at a garment factory of Shahi Exports Private Ltd., near Parappana Agrahara in southeast Bengaluru as two migrant laborers, Kammar Anand (44) and Shashi Kumar TR (51) were found unconscious almost after half an hour after entering the plant.
Kumar was working as an operator of the effluent treatment plant (ETP) and sewage treatment plant at the company. The deceased were assigned to clean the water sump.
The company officials took them immediately to the hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.

Replying to an Apparel Resources query regarding this incident, the company spokesperson said, “We are deeply saddened by an unfortunate accident leading to the demise of our two employees at our facility. We have extended our full support to their families during such difficult times. An investigation is currently underway to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident, and we are fully cooperating with the authorities to ensure thorough and transparent proceedings.”
