TrusTrace, a traceability and compliance solutions provider, has announced a collaboration with Peftrust, a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform offering product-level environmental footprinting solutions for textiles and footwear. The partnership aims to enhance the validity of product environmental footprint (PEF) claims made by fashion brands.
The integration of TrusTrace’s authenticated environmental traceability data with Peftrust’s life cycle assessment (LCA) environmental scores will provide a comprehensive assessment of a product’s lifecycle footprint. This end-to-end solution addresses the increasing need to track and trace a product’s lifecycle in order to evaluate its overall environmental impact.
Bruno Mattia, TrusTrace’s director of business development, stated that the PEF score has become a crucial standard for fashion brands in France and Europe to validate their sustainability claims and comply with regulations. The collaboration with Peftrust allows TrusTrace to send specific environmental data to Peftrust, which is then directly accessible within the TrusTrace platform. This partnership establishes them as the world’s first end-to-end solution combining environmental traceability and impact, offering critical measurements to major fashion brands worldwide.
The collaboration between TrusTrace and Peftrust enhances the specificity of PEF scores by utilising primary data available through TrusTrace’s platform, which is more accurate than industry-averaged data. By incorporating more than 20 specific parameters from the supply chain network, the PEF score becomes more robust and brand-specific.
Laurent Bocahut, co-founder and CEO of Peftrust, emphasized that stronger data protects brands from making false or misleading sustainability claims. The collaboration enables TrusTrace’s customers to evaluate their products more comprehensively and assess their impact at scale, providing brands with better insights into product life cycles.
The PEF methodology, developed by the European Commission, accounts for a product’s entire life cycle and covers 16 impacts beyond its carbon footprint. It is based on Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and tracks manufactured materials from production to disposal, enabling a comprehensive evaluation of the product’s environmental impact.
By combining TrusTrace’s traceability and compliance solutions with Peftrust’s environmental footprinting capabilities, this collaboration aims to empower fashion brands to improve their sustainability practices, validate their claims, and meet regulatory requirements.
