Boutique workers belonging to backward areas of the Pakharpora and Surasyar blocks of Budgam (Jammu and Kashmir) are feeling more empowered after a month-long training programme on design development and upskilling, organised by the District Administration Budgam.
Organised under the Aspirational Block Development programme, the initiative was in collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) at the NIFT campus in Ompora, Budgam.
NIFT had selected 25 workers from each block to provide them with a one-month training for their upskilling. Local administration appreciated NIFT as such initiatives show the dedication of the faculty and other staff of this campus.
SF Hamid, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Budgam appreciated the NIFT administration for reaching out to far-off areas of the district to help workers improve their skills. He added that the NIFT campus has given motivation to these workers and advised them to work with the same motivation after leaving this institute.
He further said that after attending this training programme, there is a need to take these skills to the next level by way of linking skills with the market and local administration will help in this regard.
Javid Ahmad Wani, Director, NIFT Srinagar said that NIFT conducted this programme with a high level of proficiency and the faculty worked hard to provide design skills to these workers. NIFT made all the resources available for the successful completion of the training.
