Here is a positive news for stakeholders of organic cotton in Indian textile and apparel industry!
The International Organic Accreditation Service (IOAS) has lifted the suspension on CU Inspections & Certifications India. The step will enable the latter to resume its certification activities related to Textile Exchange standards.
This means that CU India can once again issue transaction certificates for certified products in compliance with Textile Exchange standards.
This includes products that were shipped while the accreditation was under suspension, allowing for seamless continuation of business operations.
After appeal efforts fell through, in March, 2023 the Indian organic certification body was suspended.
It has been said that the existing transaction certificates issued by CU India remain valid unless notified otherwise by CU India or Textile Exchange.
Various companies which deal with organic cotton-based products are content with this lifting of the ban as they were facing uncertainty due to this.
