
German workwear brand Engelbert Strauss is the latest addition to The US Cotton Trust Protocol programme. With this partnership, Strauss not only seeks at solidifying its ongoing sustainability framework but by incorporating the programme’s detailed traceability platform, the brand will also gain access to the journey of Protocol and the US Cotton within its supply chain.
The programme will also have the brand encouraging farmers to grow cotton responsibly, so that the main components in their workwear is in tune with their stringent environmental standards. Speaking in this regard, Henning Strauss, CEO of STRAUSS expressed the brand’s commitment to ensuring a sustainable future and with this partnership, Strauss also said that they are looking forward to building an ecosystem that fosters responsible sourcing, sustainable farming and fair conditions for farmers, and further promotes transparency.
Established in 2020, the US Cotton Trust Protocol is a voluntary programme that has continually shown progress in the face of challenging conditions. The Trust Protocol recently announced that it has secured growth in enrolled growers and acres for the sixth successive years, and it also expressed enthusiasm in having Strauss as its members apart from Macy’s, URBN, and American Eagle among others.
In this context, the Executive Director of the US Cotton Trust Protocol, Daren Abney shared that they are looking forward to Strauss being a part of their programme. Abney also appreciated the brand on its sustainable practices and also said that the brand will also be able to capitalise on the comprehensive data and tools to improve their environmental impact with this partnership.
