Renowned sustainable global brand Stella McCartney has partnered with Balena, a materials science company, to create a new line of innovative sneakers, called the S-Wave Sport.
These sneakers are set to feature BioCir Flex, a revolutionary plant-based material that is durable, flexible, compostable, and recyclable. Made from sustainable sources like castor beans and cinnamon, BioCir Flex offers a groundbreaking alternative to traditional plastics in footwear.
The material science company, Balena, has shared its transformative material with the visionary designer to come up with this latest creation that is entirely plant-based material as durable as traditional plastics, yet entirely compostable and recyclable. This collaboration signifies a significant step towards a more sustainable future in fashion.
Stella McCartney has also told media that the product is 100 per cent plant based and has a ‘closed-loop production’ ensuring that it produces zero waste. This launch aligns with both the companies as they share the vision of a future where fashion could thrive without compromising the planet.
