German luxury fashion house Hugo Boss is now among seven new companies that have joined Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Programme and committed to work collaboratively on the development and implementation of ZDHC tools such as Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL), chemical guidance sheets, wastewater guidelines, ZDHC Academy and ZDHC Gateway.
With this partnership, the company sees a large lever for further mitigating environmental impacts in the production process, for its own production sites as well as for the collaboration with its partners.
The new members which joined the programme as value chain affiliates are Dr. Petry Textile Auxiliaries, a chemical company which produces chemical auxiliaries for the textile industry; TFL, a globally operating company producing specialty chemicals for the leather industry and related industries; UL Consumer & Retail Services, which helps manufacturers and retailers in every aspect of the supply chain and production process.

Three companies have joined as an associate, namely Association TEGEWA representing chemical producers based in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland; ETAD, an association of international colorant manufacturers; and Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), which assists the Taiwan textile industries in coping with the challenges presented by the ever-changing economic and trade environment.
“I’m delighted to see continued growth and ongoing support and the commitment from the textile, leather and footwear industry. To achieve the industry wide change, we all need to work together collaboratively, because no one brand or supplier can achieve the change alone and by acting in isolation,” says Frank Michel, Executive Director, ZDHC.
The total number of contributors to the ZDHC Programme is now 63 contributors, of which 23 are Signatory Brands, 27 are Value Chain Affiliates and 13 are Associates.
