In order to ensure a reliable, compliant and sustainable supply of end-of-life textiles, Reju™, the purpose-driven leading textile-to-textile regeneration firm, has established a cooperation with Rematrix, a Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO) based in Italy.
Through proactive management of textile products’ end-of-life phase, Rematrix works with fashion companies to ensure compliance with the impending Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws in Italy and throughout Europe. Rematrix supports the creation of circular business models and the reuse and recycling of textile waste through an industrial supply chain, a proprietary traceability platform, and access to a robust network of technology and business partners.
This deal lays the groundwork for a sustained cooperation to supply Reju’s Regeneration Hub with discarded textiles. The collaboration affects the local post-consumer waste issue in the locations where it arises, facilitating efforts to find a solution and offering near-shoring prospects.
“Reju’s mission is perfectly aligned with Rematrix’s ability to manage the entire lifecycle of textile products, from collection to recycling,” Reju CEO Patrik Frisk said. This partnership expedites the industry’s shift to a circular economy while also bolstering Reju’s material sourcing strategy.
According to Enrico Soffiati, CEO of Rematrix, the company believes that cooperation and technological innovation are crucial to addressing the problems associated with textile waste. By collaborating with Reju, Rematrix is able to give brands the tactical resources they need to surpass EPR regulations and firmly adopt a circular business strategy.
