PTC, a multinational software company, has announced a partnership with Made2Flow, a technology firm that specialises in data collection and analysis of environmental data across international supply chains for clothing and footwear. This collaboration will enable PTC’s FlexPLM customers to access transparent, scientifically based impact measurements at scale to assist in the development of more environmentally friendly designs and products.
Consumers, government authorities, and even investors are putting more pressure on the retail, footwear, fashion, and apparel industries to dramatically reduce their environmental impact, according to the technology companies.
Many businesses and retailers have publicly pledged to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) and water use throughout their supply chains as a result of this pressure. Companies must choose more environmentally friendly options when developing new products and materials to meet these objectives.
With Made2Flow’s technology, PTC users will be able to anticipate the environmental effects of their design and development choices and proactively influence their Scope 3 reduction targets.
The partnership will give clothing and shoemakers science-based analyses of how much CO2 (GHG) is released into the environment during each stage of the manufacturing process, including water consumption and land use, right within the FlexPLM platform.
Designers and product managers will automatically and seamlessly observe the effects of changes they make to the materials, suppliers, and the Bill of Process in FlexPLM on the environment and may course-correct them as necessary.
