Sustainable luxury fashion brand, Patrick McDowell recently announced a collaboration with Sparxell, the colour platform technology company.
With this partnership, the British fashion brand will become the first company to adopt the cutting-edge innovation of Sparxell in its collection, which will officially make its debut at the Future Fabrics Expo 2025. This collection will feature Sparxell’s signature blue, which is a refined take on matte finish and boasts a shimmery effect that aims at capturing light through structural colour instead of traditional synthetic sparkle materials. Sparxell’s signature blue will be seen in McDowell’s couture gown. This collection also has a bag made from NUVI’s next-gen material with a coating of Sparxell’s shimmers.
Speaking about including these sparkles, Patrick McDowell, Creative Director and Founder of expressed his excitement on how Sparxell is expanding on what’s possible in responsible luxury. McDowell also talked about their plant-based pigments and plastic-free sequins being exceptionally vibrant and yet biodegradable and nature-friendly.
This collection will pivot Sparxell’s position in the market as it will be the first commercial shades that the company will launch in addition to its already available colours. As such, the nature-inspired colour platform that was founded by University of Cambridge scientists Dr Benjamin Droguet and Professor Silvia Vignolini, is committed on creating 100 per cent biodegradable pigments, inks, and embellishment including sequins and foils inspired by nature. Further the company has also been emulating photonic colours in order to offer durable textures and rich tones, which work at lessening the impact on the environment.
Through this collection, Patrick McDowell’s eponymous brand also aims at pushing the boundaries of circular design, and this collaboration also signifies the potential for innovation.
