In a significant achievement for workplace safety in Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector, Mavis Garments Ltd. and Shafi Processing Industries Ltd., both units of Giant Group, have been awarded the Letter of Recognition from the RMG Sustainability Council (RSC).
The RSC is a pioneering private national tripartite initiative in Bangladesh, established to uphold and advance workplace safety within the RMG industry. It conducts comprehensive inspections covering structural, electrical, fire, and boiler safety, supports and monitors remediation efforts, provides safety training, and operates an independent occupational safety and health complaints mechanism accessible to workers in affiliated factories.
The recognition of Mavis Garments Ltd. and Shafi Processing Industries Ltd. underscores Giant Group’s commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment for all employees. Azfar Hassan, Director of Giant Group, accepted the RSC certificates on behalf of the company. Expressing pride in the factory management’s dedication to safety, Hassan emphasized that factory safety is an ongoing process requiring regular monitoring, maintenance, and the implementation of robust in-factory safety systems and practices.
