Lindex, one of Europe’s leading fashion companies, has collaborated with Södra, a native forestry group, to adopt its sustainable cellulose-based fibre and produce 1 million garments based on OnceMore.
One million garments will be produced from post-consumer textile waste and renewable wood, and will be available in the company’s collection beginning in early 2023.
Lindex will receive 250 tonnes of viscose fibre made entirely from OnceMore at Södra’s mill in Mörrum, which processes wood from Södra’s members’ sustainably managed forests.
The collaboration is in line with Lindex’s sustainability promise – to make a difference for future generations – with one of the fashion company’s goals being that by 2025, 100 per cent of Lindex’s materials will be recycled or sustainably sourced.
“Today, there are major challenges regarding large-scale recycling of textiles where OnceMore is an important enabler. Through our collaboration, we can contribute to a more sustainable textile industry while taking further steps on our circular journey and reducing our environmental impact,” commented Annette Tenstam, Strategic Lead, Circularity & Environmental Sustainability, Lindex.
